Guangdong Medical University (GDMU) was founded in 1958
and
consists of

GDMU was approved as a doctoral degree awarding institution in 2013. Both the university and the discipline of Clinical Medicine have been listed among the global top 1% in ESI (Essence of Scientific Indicators) ranking. Since 2019, the university has been listed in CWUR and USNEWS World University Rankings. The discipline of Pharmacology and Toxicology, has ranked in the ESI global top 1% in 2020.
GDMU currently has an enrollment of nearly 20,000 full-time students, 14 schools (departments), 6 affiliated hospitals, 12 non-affiliated clinical medical schools and 27 non-affiliated teaching hospitals. GDMU has gradually evolved to be a comprehensive university with seven disciplines, including medicine, science, management, engineering, literature, law and economics. At present, there are 1 primary discipline authorized for doctoral degree, namely clinical medicine, 6 primary disciplines authorized for master's degree, namely clinical medicine, basic medical sciences, public health and preventive medicine, medical technology, pharmacy and biology.
GDMU currently has 1289 full-time teachers, including 49 doctoral supervisors, 751 master supervisors and 2dual-employed academician. Also, it has an excellent teaching and scientific research environment, with 2 scientific research centers, 4 provincial level key laboratories and engineering technology research centers, 18 municipal level key laboratories, and 1 postdoctoral research station.
Over the past 63 years, GDMU has educated more than 200,000 medical professionals working at various medical institutions in Guangdong and other provinces in China. We adhere to the concept of open education and have maintained close contact and cooperation with universities and scientific research institutes in the United States, Great Britain, Germany, Australia, Japan, Finland, Poland, Malaysia etc., together with those in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. The university adheres to the official motto of "Ambition, Virtue, Truth, Excellence", and is committed to constructing a high-level medical university with distinctive characteristics, top-ranking among the domestic counterparts and well-known at home and abroad, so as to provide intellectual, scientific and technical support for the medical and health-care undertakings as well as the overall economic and social development.
I. Eligibility of Application
1. Master’s Degree Candidates: under the age of 35, with a degree equivalent to the Bachelor's Degree in Chinese Universities, non-Chinese citizens with a foreign passport.
2. Doctor’s Degree Candidates: under the age of 40, with a degree equivalent to the Master's Degree of Chinese Universities, non-Chinese citizens with a foreign passport.

III. Language Requirements
English Medium Program: Applicants from non-English-speaking countries should have the certificate of TOEFL IBT90 or IELTS 6.5 or above or equivalent language proficiency. If the highest degree program was taught in English, the certificate of the relevant education conducted in English medium shall be provided.
Chinese Medium Program: Applicants should have the certificate with a score of 180 or above in the New HSK Test of Level 5 (within the validity time of 2 years) or other comparable certificates proving Chinese proficiency. If the highest degree program was taught in Chinese, the certificate of the relevant education conducted in Chinese medium shall be provided.

Ⅴ. Application Instructions
1. The applicants are required to submit the first to the tenth electronic application materials in Article Ⅵ."Application Materials" to studygdmu@gdmu.edu.cn, and we will proofread the application materials for preliminary review;
2. After receiving the Notice of Prequalification from the university, the applicants shall pay the application fee, and then submit the first to the seventeenth hard copy application materials in the "Application Materials" form. The printout application materials can be submitted by himself or entrusted by others, or sent by express to the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges of Guangdong Medical University. The materials shall arrive before July 20, 2021, otherwise it will be deemed as waiver of application.

Ⅶ. Audit and Admission
After the applicants’ materials are completely submitted, GDMU will carry out the comprehensive evaluation and assessment of the application materials in combination with the comprehensive requirements of the major which the applicant applies for after the preliminary reviews.
★The specific assessment method, time and other issues shall be notified by the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges, GDMU.
★The results will be announced by official email in early August 2021. Letter of Admission and the visa application form for study in China, JW202, will be mailed to the applicant by the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges, GDMU.
★After receiving Letter of Admission and JW202 form, the applicant shall bring the above mentioned materials and the original and copies of the physical examination record, passport etc. and go to the Chinese embassy (consulate general) to apply for a study visa in China .
Ⅷ.Arrival Time
The arrival time will be scheduled during September 2021 tentatively and the specific registration date shall be informed by the Letter of Admission and the formal notice sent by the official E-mail.
According to the time limit stipulated in the Letter of Admission, the admitted student should bring the original materials such as the Letter of Admission, the visa application form JW202, passport and physical examination form etc. to the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges, GDMU for registration. Those who are unable to arrive on time should obtain the consent of the office in advance. For those who fail to arrive within the time limit without approval, their candidate status would be terminated automatically.
Ⅸ.Charging Standard
1.Registration fee: 500 RMB/ person, registration fee is non-refundable;
2. Tuition fee:
(1)Doctoral program (Research-type):
38,000 RMB / academic year for English medium, 32,000 RMB / academic year for Chinese medium
(2)Master degree program (Research-type):
33,000 RMB/ academic year for English medium,
27,000 RMB/ academic year for Chinese medium.
3. Accommodation fee:
6000 RMB/ person/ bed(double room)/ academic year;
4. Other expenses: Fees for teaching materials, physical examination, medical treatment, comprehensive insurance, residence permit, accommodation, water and electricity, network, etc. shall be paid by the international students themselves.
5.The specific charging amount shall be subject to the price approved by the provincial government.
Ⅹ. Scholarships
1.Guangdong Medical University set up “Freshmen Scholarship for International Students” and “Postgraduate students’ Scholarships for International Students” to support outstanding students to study at GDMU. Besides, excellent international students are also eligible to apply for Guangdong Government Outstanding International Student Scholarship.

Ⅻ. Reminder
1. All application materials and information submitted by applicants must be authentic and valid, consistent with the fact andoriginal versions;
2. Applicants are required to provide a financial guarantee for the tuition and other the essential expenses for studying, living at Guangdong Medical University. According to the living standard of Guangdong Province, the living expenses are about 1500-2000 Yuan per month;
3. During the period of evaluating the application materials, please keep the phone on to ensure that the staff can contact the applicant in time;
4. During the period of studying in China, international students must comply with Chinese laws and regulations, respect Chinese customs and habits, and abide by rules and regulations issued by the university;
5. The university respects the national customs and religious beliefs of international students, but does not provide places for religious activities. Religious activities such as missionary activities, religious gatherings, etc. are not allowed on the campus;
6. International students are not allowed to work, do business or engage in other business activities during their study at the university;
7. Applicants should not conceal their medical history. After arrival, international students shall go to the designated health and quarantine department for physical examination in accordance with the provisions of the Chinese health administrative department;
8. International students are required to pay tuition and accommodation fees before arrival or on the date of registration.
9. International students must purchase insurance in accordance with the relevant regulations and requirements of the government and Guangdong Medical University; otherwise the university will withdraw the student’s enrollment or refuse his or her registration.
