Guangdong Medical University(GDMU) signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Zhanjiang Medical Security Bureau to establish Zhanjiang Medical Security Research Institute on 23rd April. This is the first medical security research institute jointly established by the prefecture-level government and the medical university in China. It is planned to become a new think tank to serve the reform of local medical security system. The Research Institute will focus on the needs of "two pilot programs and one demonstration" of Zhanjiang Medical Security Bureau, namely, pilot city of the innovative mode of fund supervision, pilot city for the construction of credit system of fund supervision, demonstration city for intelligent monitoring of medical insurance, with the aim of ensuring that Zhanjiang citizens can obtain high-quality, efficient and affordable medical services, meanwhile, exploring and innovating medical security reform, and creating a good reputation of Zhanjiang’s medical reform.
The Research Institute will provide research services in related fields by means of undertaking projects and it also provides professional support for the formulation of medical insurance policy, promoting the innovation and development of medical insurance reform, and improving the governance level of medical insurance. It mainly undertakes tasks such as the reform and optimization of medical insurance policies, the construction of public management services for medical insurance, personnel training and disciplinary construction etc..
