On January 3, the university held a cooperation meeting with Han Demin, the academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Chairman of the Chinese Medical Promotion Association, and his team. Lu Jinghui, President of the university, and other university leaders  including Luo Hui, Liu Xinguang, Kuang Weihong and Zeng Zhirong attended the meeting.

On behalf of the university, President Lu Jinghui thanked academician Han Demin’s team for their concern and support for the construction and development of the university. He pointed out that the university expects the cooperation between the two sides can give full play to the advantages of the university and local resources, and also expresses the university’s confidence and determination to make greater contributions to promoting talent training and high-quality development of the local economy. It is hoped that the two sides will rely on the Medical and Health Big Data Engineering Center to innovate the cooperation mechanism, cooperate and innovate together in talent training, scientific research platform construction and talent resource sharing, so as to better serve the national strategic needs and regional economic and social development.

In his speech, Academician Han Demin said that the China Medical Promotion Association（CMPA） is comprehensively promoting the construction of a healthy China in accordance with the new national development stage, and systematically solving the imbalance and insufficiency of medical resources around medical and health big data. He hopes to give full play to the talent, resource and location advantages of CMPA, closely combine with the construction planning of Guangdong Medical University, Dongguan City and the GBA, make full use of both sides’ medical talent resources, medical big data and medical informatization to carry out the training of medical talents, do a good job in applying for national major projects; and help to promote the local economic construction and health care development by relying on the advantages of innovation research institutes, building a scientific research platform and supporting the development of local industries.

At the meeting, Dr. Song Yinglong made a keynote report on “Medical and Health Big Data Engineering Center” jointly built by the academician team and Guangdong Medical University.

Directors of relevant departments, deans of four schools and two affiliated hospitals as well as staffs from Songshan Lake Science City Working Group participated in this meeting.
