The predecessor of School of Basic Medicine was the Department of Basic Medicine, which was established in March 1995 and renamed School of Basic Medicine in 2010. After more than 10 years of construction and development, the school has become a base for teaching, scientific research and staff training.
School of Basic Medicine is composed of 10 departments (Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Pathology, Pathophysiology, Physiology, Microbiology and Immunology, Parasitology, Histology and Embryology, Cell Biology, Anatomy, Forensic Medicine) and 2 Laboratories (Physiology Science Laboratory and Pathogen Biology laboratory). There are 3 Provincial Key Laboratory of Medical Research (Bioactive Molecules Laboratory, Modern Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Laboratory, Microbiology and Immunology Laboratory) and 10 scientific research institutions (Sino-US Joint Cancer Institute, Institute on Aging, Biochemistry Institute of Molecular Biology, Cancer Institute, US Gene Nutrition and Health Research Center, Stem Cell and Tissue Injury and Repair of Sciences, Institute of Pathogen Biology and Immunology, the Beauty of the Medical Center, Laboratory of Physiology, Medical Genetics Research) Based on the qualified teaching staff and laboratory conditions in Forensic Medicine and related disciplines, it officially established Judicial Expertise Center in 2009. The Center is a neutral judicial authentication service open to the whole society, which carries out pathology identification, physical evidence identification, clinical identification, toxicological identification, trace evidence identification and psychiatric evaluation. It is also an important base for teaching practice in Forensic Medicine majors.
The school has formed a high-level teaching team with reasonable age tier by strengthening the construction of teaching and administrative staff and enhancing the quality of the personnel. There are 204 staff, 27 professors and 39 associate professors in this school.
In the following years, the school will focus on the school's guiding ideology and development goals, increase the effort for the introduction and training of academic leaders, and actively promote the building of innovative team. Based on key subjects, research bases, international academic exchange and cooperation, the school will surely speed up the transformation of scientific research achievements to realize the object of development in full dimension.
★Forensic Medicine (5 years)
This major aims to train forensic medicine graduates with medical basic theory knowledge, forensic professional knowledge, basic practical skills, good professional quality and moral quality. They can engage in forensic identification work in the public security organs, administrative organs, the judicial authentication institutions and other relevant institutions.
