School of Medical Laboratory, the predecessor of which was Department of Medical Laboratory, is among the earliest 11 colleges to recruit undergraduate medical students in 1989. In 1996, Clinical Laboratory Science acquired Master's degree granting. School of Medical Laboratory was among the first to offer undergraduate and postgraduate education program. The specialty ranks the fourth place among 65 universities nationwide.
The school currently has 7 teaching department as clinical biochemistry, clinical immunology, clinical microbiology testing, clinical parasitology testing, clinical blood tests, clinical laboratory and instrumental analysis. There are 52 practical internship bases, based on three-A level hospitals in the whole province.
There are 12 professors, 15 associate professors, 4 doctor tutors and 25 master tutors. More than 80% of the teachers have master's and doctor’s degrees.
Since 1996, School of Medical Laboratory has cooperated with Osaka College of Medical Technology and Osaka College of High Technology, Osaka Institute of Health and Welfare. Students exchanged to those colleges have graduated with certificates of attendance issued by the Japanese side.
School of Medical Laboratory has been adhering to the principles of “depending on the society, facing the society, serving the society”, focusing on the cultivation of comprehensive quality for the students. The graduates of the school have enjoyed a high rate of employment and won a good reputation. A considerable part of the students have become the backbone of the field. After 25 years of efforts, the size of the school is expanding with teaching quality steadily improving.
★Medical Laboratory Technology (4 years)
The major aims train medical test expertise who master medical examination methods and other aspects of the basic theoretical knowledge, are skilled of modern equipments and advanced medical laboratory technology. They are able to engage in medical testing and biomedical laboratory work in all levels of hospitals, blood banks, the centers for disease control, and in production, sales and other departments of vitro diagnostic reagents.
