The history of School of Nursing can be traced back to the middle of the 20th century. In September 1965, Zhanjiang Medical College Nursing School was established. On December, 2003, the Guangdong Provincial Government approved its rename to School of Nursing of Guangdong Medical College. The employment rate of graduates and passing rate of national qualification examination for nurse practitioner both reached 100%.
School of Nursing is located in Dongguan Campus,. It offers undergraduates with two programs: nursing and intensive care. The school enrolls 500 students per year from Guangdong and the other 12 provinces nationwide. The school of nursing now has an enrollment of over 2,000 students.
There are 4 departments of the Basic Nursing, Medical Nursing, Surgical Nursing, Midwifery, Women and Child Health, 1 fundamental laboratory of nursing, which undertake teaching tasks of 21 basic courses and specialized courses for undergraduates. It has 20 professional teachers and laboratory technicians, and a group of part-time staff from affiliated teaching hospitals with rich experiences.
The school established a nursing teaching laboratory with an area of 1000 M2, for the purpose of strengthening students' innovative spirit and practical ability. The school of Nursing has established more than 40 clinical practice bases, which stabilized the level and quality of practice teaching. In 2008, nursing specialty was listed as one of the third Specialty Construction Points by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Finance.
School of Nursing has been adhering to the motto of "Ambition, Morality, Truth and Refinement ", striving to cultivate high qualified nursing personnel facing the grassroots, and made great contribution to medical and health services for Guangdong Province.
★ Nursing (4 years)
This major aims to train nursing professionals who will systematically master the basic theory, knowledge and skills of nursing, owning the abilities of basic clinical caring work, initially teaching skills, management skills and research capabilities. They can engage in preventive health care and work in all types of health care institutions and disease prevention centers.
