School of Pharmacy, formed in 2003, is located on Dongguan campus, and started to recruit the first 203 pharmacy students in 2004. There are seven departments of Pharmacognosy, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmacy, Pharmacology, Chemistry, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Pharmaceutical Trade, an experimental center and 82 teaching staff. It is an educational institution integrated with teaching, research, development, and social services.
School of Pharmacy has advanced scientific instruments such as an infrared spectrometer, gas chromatograph multiple research platform, electrochemical analysis system, high-performance liquid chromatography, and several research platforms, i.e. traditional Chinese medicine and drug development, which laid a good foundation. Relying on traditional Chinese medicine and drug research in Chinese anti-osteoporosis drugs, it has formed stable research orientation of transdermal absorption of drugs, anti-tumor, prevention and treatment of bronchial asthma, diabetes, cirrhosis, etc. The school is working with a series of drugs with independent intellectual property.
School of Pharmacy mainly offers educational programs for undergraduates. There are 2 specialties: pharmacy and traditional Chinese medicine, with 3 orientations in pharmaceutical analysis, clinical pharmacy and pharmaceutical trade. Currently, the school has an enrollment of 2335 students. Graduates engage in hospitals, pharmaceutical manufacturing, testing, distribution and usage, who can involve with drug analysis, drug design, drug synthesis, pharmaceutical preparations, rational drug use, hospital pharmacy management, drug supervision, and other aspects. The employment rate of graduates reached more than 99%. For the past four years the students have received 23 projects from the provincial support with RMB460, 000 and 46 projects supported by the college with RMB140, 000. 21 papers have been published.
