On September 17th, several well-known extramural experts were invited to appraise the construction scheme of the high-level university and the meeting was conducted online and offline. Kuang Weihong, member of the Standing Committee of the Party committee and vice president of the University, presided over the meeting. Li Mengfeng, President of Southern Medical University and the leader of the expert group, presided over the second and third stages of the appraisal meeting.
Attendees include Professor Liu Jinbao, vice president of Guangzhou Medical University,Professor Cao Yunxia, President of Anhui Medical University,Professor Lv fan, former Secretary of the CPC committee and President of Wenzhou Medical University,Professor Hao Haiping, vice president of China Pharmaceutical University,Professor Liu Zhongqiu, vice president of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine,Professor He Na, Dean of School of Public Health, Fudan University, and leaders of the University, directors or deans of relevant departments and schools.
At the meeting, Lu Jinghui,both the Secretary of the CPC committee and President of the University, introduced the Overall Construction Plan of the High-level University from six aspects as well as the Overall Reform Plan for the University’s System and Mechanism from three aspects.President Lu stressed that the university will continue to speed up the overall development under the guidance of accelerating the construction of the four key disciplines,deepening the reform of mechanism and system,strengthening the ability to pool and allocate resources,broadening the means of bringing in and training high–end talents,deepen international exchanges and cooperation,striving to cultivate more high-level healthcare talents and create new brilliance in the new journey.
The deans ofthe Affiliated Hospital, Basic Medical Sciences, Pharmacy and Public Health introduced the construction schemes of the key disciplines respectively.
After the briefing, the experts gave a comprehensive, objective and scientific evaluation on the construction plan and put forward valuable opinions and suggestions. After the internal discussion, it was agreed that GDMU has achieved remarkable results in discipline construction, teaching staff, talent training, scientific research and the development of affiliated hospitals after the last round of construction. The overall strength of the University has been significantly improved and the ability to serve the society has been substantially enhanced, hence now it is among key discipline construction high-level universities of Guangdong Province.
In addition, it was the common opinion of the experts that the relevant plans meet the requirements of the construction of high-level universities of Guangdong Province and the plans have clear construction objectives,focused construction tasks and reasonable budgets. It is believed that through five years of construction, the university’s overall level, comprehensive strength and core competitiveness will be significantly improved, and its domestic and international influence will be improved.
Vice President Kuang Weihong said we must grasp this strategic opportunity to promote the high-quality development and strive for more achievements with new patterns, greaterself-confidence, courage, responsibility and devotion.
At last, on behalf of the University,President Lu Jinghui expressed heartfelt thanks to the experts. He said that we will seriously, comprehensively and fully absorb the opinions and suggestions,keeping on improving the construction plans and goingfull steam ahead to implement them. He firmly believes that the efforts inconstructing key disciplines will pay off in the coming five years.
